  Dickinson Girl’s Swimming

Greetings!  And welcome to the World of Dickinson Swimming.  This News letter is made to inform people of what’s going
on within the Dickinson Swimming World.  Our ultimate goal is to attract future swimmers so that they can join our
successful program.

Mid-Season Review – After an excellent Preparation and Endurance phase of the season we are now in the middle of the Mixed/Training Specific phase.  Each phase of the season enables a swimmer to progress regardless of their prior
swimming background.  Each swimmer is now practicing for improvement by using individual workouts designed for
each swimmer’s level of condition.

Our first meet back after Holiday training saw the team improve in many events.  Although we did not rest for this meet
each member of the team was still able to swim some impressive times:

Some of our highlights include:

 - Caitlyn Gregg won back-to-back races vs. Christiana and qualified for the High School State Championships in both the
200 yd. freestyle (2:14.75) and 200 yd. IM (2:31.03)

- Emily Moore also won two events, the 50 yd. freestyle and 100 yd. breaststroke.  Her 50 freestyle time improved by almost
1 full second from 31.70 to 30.77.

- Sara Watson also swam back-to-back events.  In the 100 yard butterfly she bettered her time by 3.40 seconds.  She then
turned around and swam the next event, the 100 yd. freestyle.  She not only won the event but improved her time by
6.15 seconds!

We like Our Small Team!  Although we do have room for more swimmers, having a small team can actually be a good
thing in swimming.  Anytime a team has less than 13 swimmers and uses a six lane pool, each swimmer has their own
space to train!  With the ability to conduct individualized workouts a swimmer has the best chance of reaching their
ultimate goals.

About the Coach - Coach Randy Stone is a PE teacher at Skyline Middle School.  He has been involved in swimming as
a swimmer and Coach.  He was a former captain of the University of Delaware swim team, Graduate Assistant Coach at
UNC – Chapel Hill, the Assistant Coach at the University of Tennessee, and summer league Coach of the Knoxville
Racquet Club.  Coach Stone also received a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from UNC.

Meet the team! – We do hope to have you meet our team and see the school sometime.  If you have questions or would
like to shadow one of our swimmers at Dickinson please feel free to contact the Coach through e-mail -  Randall.Stone@redclay.k12.de.us

 Look out for the Rams!
